What’s in a Name?

photoAché (sometimes written Axé, or Ashé) is a word emanating from the Afro-Cuban religion Santería, and refers to the life force emanating from all created things. This expression is used in prayers and greetings and can be understood as a path to spiritual enlightenment.

The followers of Santería try to obtain Aché through Iwá-pelé, or good character, and it through Aché that they align themselves with orí, their personal destinies and find inner peace.
